How to grant Screenity permission to record your camera and microphone

Fix camera and microphone permission issues. Grant Screenity access to recording devices in Chrome settings.

When you first open Screenity after installing it, you will be prompted with a modal to give access to your camera and microphone, so they can be recorded.

If you accidentally denied them, here’s how you can allow them again.

To allow Screenity to access your camera and microphone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Screenity popup on any page.
  2. Click on the blocked camera icon in the address bar of Chrome.
  3. When the modal opens, click on Always allow Screenity to access your camera and microphone.
  4. Click Done to close the modal, and check if Screenity is listing your camera and microphone.
  5. If your camera and microphone still don't appear, try reloading the page or restarting Chrome.

If you don't see the camera icon in the address bar

Sometimes Chrome won't show the blocked camera or microphone icon. If that happens, you can grant permissions manually through Chrome's settings:

  1. Open a new tab and go to chrome://settings/content/camera.
  2. Find Screenity in the list and click on it to open its permissions page.
  3. On the permissions page, set Camera to Allow and Microphone to Allow using the dropdown menus.
  4. Go back to the page where you want to record, reload it, and open the Screenity popup to check if your camera and microphone are now available.

Tip: You can also reach this page from chrome://settings/content/microphone. Clicking on Screenity from either page opens the same permissions view.
